April's Story
I spent most of my childhood extremely depressed as a result of many years of emotional abuse. My sisters and I were involved in a car accident when I was twelve years old and I was left with a closed head injury. Deep depression set in leaving me feeling like a prisoner in my own mind. I attempted suicide twice in my teen years. I began seeking my acceptance in people. I started using drugs at the age of nineteen. My addiction continued over a span of about five years.
I knew Jesus Christ was the answer, so I came to Alabama Teen Challenge for a life change. The love and acceptance I searched for I have found in the Lord. He has delivered me from depression and fear. He’s restored my mind as well as my relationship with my daughter. Most importantly, my relationship with Him has been restored. Today I no longer see myself as a victim but the victor in the Lord Jesus Christ.
