Q: Why is Teen Challenge one of the most effective drug recovery programs in America for individuals of all ages?

A: We know that to be successful, an addict needs to move from a self-centered lifestyle to a Christ-centered lifestyle.

Grand Opening In Sight

The Vision
Opening a new intake facility in Dallas County, Alabama Teen Challenge is transforming a building originally designed to house 8 children into a home for 32 adult male students plus a full time staff.

The Challenge
Increasing the number of people housed at the facility necessitates some changes. A larger kitchen and expanded bedroom and bathroom spaces are required.  HVAC loads and greater food storage must be increased.  Exercise areas, grounds keeping, parking needs and code compliance all must be considered.

The Solution
Under the expertise of Randy Lovelady and Tommy Ellis, plans were drawn to restructure the layout, move plumbing, and increase the capacity of the waste treatment system.  A load balanced HVAC system and larger kitchen were required.

A New Addition
Code restrictions dictate more square feet per person than originally allocated, so plans have been drawn to build an additional brick building in the rear of the facility for walk-in coolers and freezers, a laundry area and dry storage. A concrete area with covered storage for exercise and grounds equipment will also be available.

The Current Status
The plumbing, HVAC and electrical have been completed.  High efficiency foam has been installed in the roof deck and walls.  Sheetrock is being installed and masonry steps are being laid.  Painting, installation of carpet and various types of tile will soon follow.

The Grand Opening is expected in early Fall 2008.

From Doug Wever, Director Of Operations

What a thrill it is to anticipate opening in under ninety days!  As we prepare to see souls saved with the opening of the Alabama Teen Challenge Men’s Induction Center West here in Selma (MICW), there are some final and urgent tasks that lie before us to cross the finish line.

One of those tasks of course is to complete the operational budget.  To that end, the Advisory Board is stewarding a process called, 3 – 2 – 1 GO!  I want to commend this to you, because through it, you can fund the entire induction stay of one student.  That is absolutely true, because the 3-2-1 GO! process provides sixteen donors giving $30 per month.  That equals $5,760 per year, and that easily pays for one induction student’s four month stay at MICW, Alabama Teen Challenge, Selma.  Some folks who have embarked on 3-2-1 GO! completed the process in less than a week.  3-2-1 GO! is simple, precise, easy, and has overwhelming benefits for people looking to Jesus to break the chains of addiction.

This Great Commission journey in Selma continues to be a glorious testimony of Christian unity and cooperation in a true risk of rescue. As you are partnered for Christ with us on behalf of hurting people, you make this freedom journey possible for Teen Challenge students in Selma.  But here is the thing that is true for everyone involved.  Whatever is accomplished, God will reward all equally. All who pray, give, and encourage are as directly involved in this great mission endeavor as the full time Teen Challenge staff. Together, we fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus here in Selma, Alabama.

Thank you – I am thinking the world of you, and I am with you in His certain victory!!!

"Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain."
- Psalm 127:1

God anointed a ministry...God's Miracle Ranch and built a house for His purposes. Then God anointed another ministry...Alabama Teen Challenge. Selma needs a 40-bed Teen Challenge. God's Miracle Range meets that need perfectly. See what God is doing! This is Alabama Teen Challenge's latest center in Selma, the Men's Induction Center - West.

"God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine."
- Ephesians 3:20

The home has more than 7000 square feet of new multi-use construction.

The Induction Center has an expected capacity of 32 students. It will be a home away from home for more than 120 individuals per year.

It is backed by a beautiful pecan grove on 12 peaceful acres.

Fittingly, the home was built in the shape of a cross.
"Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have proposed, so it will stand."
