Bingo kills Faith-Based Recovery Legislation - House of Representatives plays politics with homeless shelters and recovery ministries.

A special thank you to everyone who took the time to contact your elected representatives on behalf of faith-based recovery ministries. God bless you.

SB342 was never given the chance to be voted on. Legislation that would have protected the rights of ministries like ours from future government interference died on the floor of the House of Representatives tonight after a few Representatives filabustered our bill for most of the day. In short, one opponent of the bill summed up the reason for the day's legislative battle. "We are not going to give you a vote because you (the supporters of our bill) did not give us a vote on Bingo."

The upside to today's loss is that we experienced a renewed collaboration of like-minded ministries, positively impacted the relationship and policy of the Department of Mental Health as it relates to Faith-Based recovery services in Alabama, and developed new and beneficial relationships with many of our State's elected officials.

Our ministries belong to the Lord and we give Him all the praise and honor. We know that He is still in control and ask for His wisdom in how to steward the resources He has entrusted to us.
